We're going streaking!! Pens win
Written by Brian:

The Pittsburgh Penguins, winners of 6 in a row are going streaking as they welcomed the Toronto Maple Leafs into the newly statued Consol Energy Center for a 7:30 game on national TV.
The Maple Leafs played the Boston Bruins yesterday in a hard fought battle in which the Leafs came away battered, one would think this would be an easy W for the Guins especially surrounding today’s tributes to 66.

The first period didn’t really bring much in terms of action. NBC Sports had conjoining Mario and Sid boners. It was a fun time in which it seemed like they were promoting the Pens vs Boston game on NBC this Sunday. More on why a little later.
The second period
A little more “fun” I guess if you’re a Leafs fan.
Of you are a Pens fan you are left scratching your head as to what exactly is goaltender interference and what is not. Leafs were buzzing on a 4-3 power play, a leafs player runs over back up goalie Brad Thiessen then proceeds to lay on him as Phil Kessel puts the puck in the net.
Goalie interference? Nah it wasn’t Chris Kunitz.
1-0 Leafs
Later in the period Grabovski snipes a legit goal
2-0 Leafs … Please dear God no! Not on Mario’s day

But about half way through the second, Dupuis Dijon comes up with a big time deflection
2-1Pens
Solid interviews in this period, first Lemieux joined the broadcast team during game play, which was awesome. Pretty sure we have heard him talk more today than we have in a year or so.
In the intermission Pierre McGuire had a one on one interview with Sid that took the whole intermission. Big thing to take from this interview, it seemed, if you read between the lines , Sid damn near guaranteed he is playing on Sunday vs the Bruins!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
3rd Period
Big time game from the Sullivan – Staal – Mustard line.
Pens came out big time in the third completely grinding down the Leafs who played last night.
First 1- of the period the Leafs looked tired and the Pens finished them off early.
2 minutes in Jordan Staal continued his tear putting one home to tie the game

2-2 Pens
2 minutes later Dupuis Dijon slams one home on the backhander! Mustard looking for the hat trick!

3-2 Pens
The Leafs gained some life in the final few minutes, but it was all for not as Jordan Staal and Brad Thiessen put on the workboots and didn’t even give the Leafs a sniff.

Pens win 3-2
How good was Thiessen late in this game? I’m starting to smell a back up tender controversy!! Thiessen is apparently heading towards Patrick Lalime’s rookie goaltending records and is perfect two for two looking solid in each start. Effectively doing what a back up is supposed to do, give MAF a rest.
Geno's quest for 500 points lives to see another day. Meanwhile we get word James Neal is on a quest for 200!
Pens next game is Friday at home against the Florida Panthers. The whole Pittsburgh Dump 'N Chase crew will be there. Let us know if you are coming as well.
