In a game that kind of mattered to one team and did not matter at all to the other, the Pens came out on top.
The team that didn’t care? The Bruins, they did not even dress their top goaltender Tim Thomas.
The game mattered little to the Pens as well, they are basically guaranteed wither the 4th or 5th seed, and they’ll probably play the Flyers. The Devils are close to catching the Flyers, but they’d have to win out and the Flyers would have to lose the rest of their games. But, why would the Devils want that to happen? As the 5 seed...
Pens disappoint, blow lead to Flyers, again

Well, if you didn’t like yesterday’s action between the Flyers and the Penguins, I don’t know what to tell you. You are going to have to get used to it as they meet one more time in the regular season, then are careening towards a first round playoff series.
The Penguins, just like the two previous meetings controlled play early and got up 2-0 on the Flyers. Flyers coach once again called a time out, and that was it from there with the Flyers dominating play.

Pens shuffle out of Buffalo with win

It took the Penguins a few games to get back into the swing of things but against the red hot Buffalo Sabres the Penguins some sort of glimmer of the team they usually are.
Buffalo had been winners of five straight when the Pens brought their act to First Niagara Center. Buffalo, you could make the argument has been one of, is not the best team in the league over the past twenty games as they make yet another late season push to try to get into the playoffs.

Queue the theme to the Twilight Zone. Same teams, same efforts, same result.
After the Islanders beat down the Penguins in Pittsburgh for the first time in years the two teams met on Long Island two days later. Every now and again when you are a hot team and the playoffs are looming you play a team in the bottom of the barrel. Sometimes this team can play spoiler. That happened to the Penguins last night against the Islanders. The Pens had won the previous thirteen home games against the Islanders, and ten straight on home ice, both streaks would come to an end.

The enitre crowd at CEC held their breath after a collision between Pens D-man Paul Martin and Star goalie Marc Andre Fleury. It occured at 18:08 of the second period leaving Fleury face down on the ice for a brief period of time. New York Islanders forward Frans Nielsen broke into the Penguins zone at which point Fleury moved up the slot to poke check the puck away. The Pittsburgh Penguins welcome in the New York Islanders tonight to the Consol Energy Center for a 7pm game.
The Islanders are the only team in the Atlantic Division with a losing record on the year, but have been playing the role of spoiler as of late boasting a 4-4-2 record in their last ten.

One day after being embarrassed in Ottawa the Penguins are right back to work, hosting the New Jersey Devils for a Sunday night game.
The Devils, usually a thorn in the Penguins side, have won six of their last ten. The Pens beat the Devils in Jersey the last go around 5-2.
Both teams have lost their last games, Pittsburgh in a more embarrassing fashion, so expect another playoff type atmosphere in the Consol Energy Center tonight. That is, unless the Devils get up by one or two goals, then expect to take a nap.

Tonight the Predators come into town to play some hockey against the hometown Pittsburgh Penguins in the only meeting between the two clubs this season. The Predators boast a big time blueline featuring such names as Shea Weber and former Penguin Hal Gill. They also have a Veznia Trophy candidate in Peka Rinne.

Today the Pens welcome to town the Winnipeg Jets for a game that has heavy playoff implications for both clubs. The Penguins, just three points from the Division and Conference lead can clinch a playoff spot today by winning either in regulation or in overtime. The Jets, with a record of 34-30-8, are fighting for their playoff lives, four points from the final playoff spot.
The crowd is expected to be pumped up for this game as it marks Sidney Crosby’s first game back in Pittsburgh following his three month absence from the lineup dating back to December 5th.
